A permanent setting, built on eight years of alternative provision in Medway and Kent.
Ziki AP School exists for young people the mainstream system has struggled to hold. We are establishing a registered school because tuition alone was not enough.
What Ziki AP School is
A small independent special school in Chatham, Medway, for 25 young people aged 8 to 18 with special educational needs. Co-educational, day only, non-denominational.
The school is deliberately small. Five classrooms, a maximum of five pupils in any class, and teaching delivered one-to-one, one-to-two or in small focus groups.
Why we are establishing a registered school
"Through our work with Cambridge Tuition Centre since 2018, we have worked with young people who are entirely capable of learning, but for whom a conventional school environment — or a tuition model alone — has not provided the structure, consistency and clinical pastoral support they need to succeed."
"We believe education should respond to the young person, rather than asking the young person to fit a system that is failing them. A small specialist school provides that properly: individual timetables, small groups, trauma-informed staff, and a relentless focus on both accredited learning and life skills."
