Curriculum & Educational Model

No timetable is written before we have assessed the young person.

This page provides the specific educational evidence needed to determine whether Ziki AP School can deliver against an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).

We start with a full diagnostic baseline

Every pupil begins with a thorough baseline assessment. We do not re-test pointlessly if recent valid reports exist. We evaluate:

Current attainment in English, Maths & Science
Standardised reading & comprehension age
Social, emotional & mental health profile
Speech, language & sensory integration needs
Verbatim — Approved Statutory Wording
Baseline assessment is undertaken by qualified teaching and SEN staff using school-based assessment tools and observation. Where a pupil presents with identified speech, language and communication needs requiring specialist assessment, this is undertaken by a qualified Speech and Language Therapist through relevant NHS, Local Authority or commissioned services.

Four Strands, Weighted to the Individual

Every timetable is constructed from four pillars. The weighting adjusts as the pupil gains confidence and regulation.

Strand 1

Core Academic

English, mathematics and science with accredited qualifications (GCSE, Functional Skills, Entry Level). Humanities, computing, and art.

Strand 2

Therapeutic & Pastoral

Dedicated key-worker time, emotional regulation coaching, restorative practice, and externally commissioned clinical therapies.

Strand 3

Vocational & Enrichment

Practical hands-on learning, food preparation and nutritional life skills delivered in our kitchen, creative media and physical enrichment.

Strand 4

Preparation for Adulthood

Independence skills, money management, travel training, and impartial careers guidance with a Level 6 qualified adviser.

Timetables & Progression

Pupils do not sit through six identical lessons in a row. Teaching is delivered in small group workshops, 1:1 focused blocks, and practical kitchen sessions.

Every placement is aimed at a clear named destination: reintegration into mainstream school, progression to a specialist sixth form, further education college, or an apprenticeship.

Quoting in EHCP Consultations

Commissioners and caseworkers may quote directly from this model when evaluating Section F provision or naming Ziki AP School in an EHCP.
